About Quinoa
Quinoa is a naturally gluten-free seed prepared and served much like a grain. It provides plant protein, dietary fibre and a range of naturally occurring minerals. Its light texture and mild, slightly nutty flavour make it useful in both warm meals and chilled recipes.
Ways to enjoy quinoa
- Serve as an alternative to rice in meal bowls and side dishes.
- Add cooked quinoa to salads, soups, patties or stuffed vegetables.
- Use it in breakfast bowls with fruit, milk or yoghurt.
How to cook
Rinse thoroughly under clean running water before cooking to remove the seed’s naturally occurring outer coating. Simmer with water until the grains become tender and the small germ separates. Let it rest briefly, then fluff with a fork.
Storage and care
Keep uncooked quinoa sealed in a cool, dry place. Refrigerate cooked quinoa promptly in a covered container and use within a suitable food-safety period.
