Description
About Chia Seeds
Chia seeds are small, versatile seeds that absorb liquid and develop a soft gel-like texture. They naturally provide dietary fibre, plant protein and alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a plant-based omega-3 fatty acid. Their mild flavour makes them convenient for both drinks and recipes.
Why add chia seeds to your pantry?
- Easy to include in a varied, balanced diet.
- Useful for increasing fibre in meals when consumed with adequate water.
- Suitable for smoothies, overnight oats, yoghurt, puddings and baking.
How to use
Soak the seeds in water, milk or another beverage until they expand, then add them to your preferred recipe. They can also be mixed into dough or batter. Increase fibre gradually and drink enough water throughout the day.
Storage and care
Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Keep away from moisture and use a clean, dry spoon. Anyone with swallowing difficulties should avoid consuming dry chia seeds without adequate liquid.
